NBN Cabling

NBN Cabling Installation and Repair

We specialise in the internal cabling that connects to the NBN modem. This includes phone points and networking data points from the NBN modem. We also install and repair telephone & coaxial cabling connections to the NBN modem. Unfortunately, if the issue relates to optical cabling or the connection from the street, you need to contact your ISP.

NBN Modem Installation

Your internet service provider (ISP) will likely mail you out a modem after signing up. Although the modem should be pre-configured, it still needs to be installed. If you’re not sure what to do, we can help. Our technicians will connect the modem to the incoming line, test the modem to ensure it is working properly and connect your telephone handset or telephone points to the modem. We will also advise you on any potential cabling problems we observe that can adversely affect your internet speed and reliability.

Phone Points and the NBN

When you get the NBN installed, your existing phone points will no longer work. The reason being, the NBN uses a different technology for telephone calls. Instead of your phone being connected directly to an incoming line, they need to connect to the NBN modem. So, to use your existing phone points, they need to be reconnected. More than likely, your ISP will not undertake this work. You will need the assistance of a private contractor such as ourselves.

Moving Your NBN Modem

The location where the NBN modem is installed may not suit you. Whether for practical reasons or safety concerns, wanting to move the modem is common. In most cases, this should be possible. If your modem uses a telephone, data or coaxial cable connection, then it is technically possible. The new location will also need to have access for the new cabling to be installed. Usually with minimal fuss, the NBN modem can be moved to a new convenient location.
